SRHR – How to continue the progress in a war-torn and changing world?

Stortinget -

The global progress for sexual rights and gender equality is witnessing pushback in a world of crises and lack of funding. Together with the Parliamentary group for SRHR, the Minister of international development (tbc) and guests from Ukraine, Mozambique and Kenya, we invite you to discuss and explore how progress can continue.

The world has seen tremendous achievements for people’s sexual and reproductive health and rights the past 30 years.

Maternal mortality has decreased with more than 40%, at least 60 countries have liberalised their abortion laws and the number of countries criminalising same sex relations is now down to 65. This progress has been achieved because of joint global efforts, bold actions by local civil society and strong political will. In 2025 this progress is at a crossroad.

The world witnesses increased resistance to sexual rights and gender equality, ongoing war and conflicts jeopardising the health and human rights of women and girls and a changing global aid architecture. What is at stake for sexual rights, safety and security for women, girls and marginalised groups in this changing world? And what is required for progress to continue?

Together with guests from IPPF Ukraine, Kenya and Mozambique, the Norwegian Parliamentary group for SRHR and the Minister of International Development (tbc) we will discuss this urgent agenda and shed light on the path ahead.
